Funeral services will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., Januuary 2, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Guide Rock, Nebraska with the Rev. Richard Fairbanks officiating. Interment with military graveside honors will be in the Guide Rock Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Jerry Lynn Fausch was born July 30, 1946 to Lila (Dillin) and Calvin "Bob" Fausch at Superior, Nebraska. He departed this life on December 28, 2008 at the Good Smaritan Health Center in Kearney, Nebraska.
Jerry attended District #61 for six years before attending the Guide Rock Public School, where he graduated in 1964. He enrolled at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for the next three years. In 1968, Jerry enlisted in the United States Marines, faithfully serving his country for four years, including one tour in Vietnam. He was the recipient of many honors as a dedicate soldier. Following his discharge in 1971, he continued his formal education at Chadron State College.
He was a member of the Guide Rock Masonic Lodge and the Cowles Legion Club.
He spent many hours fishing and camping. He enjoyed golfing with family and friends, especially his golfing partner of 14 years, Don Miner. Jerry also continued the legacy of his father, Bob, of gardening. Family and friends enjoyed the "fruits of his labor" all summer long. He was also a loyal fan of NASCAR and Husker football.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Calvin "Bob" Fausch, and a nephew, Kevin Lynn Soucek.
Thoses left to cherish his memory are his mother, Lila Fausch of Superior, Nebraska; two sisters, Wanda Soucek and husband Marvin of Verdigre, Nebraska and Louise "Liz" Petsch and husband Dave of Guide Rock; and a brother, Thomas Fausch and wife Barbara of Grand Island, Nebraska. Carrying on his memory are his nieces and nephews: Christine Soucek of Hastings, Nebraska; Tammy Smith and husband Steve of Phillips; Brian Fausch and wife Lori of Omaha; Angela Fausch of Omaha; and Hanna Hatra and husband AJ of Omaha, along with several great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind special friends Christi Lewis and her sons, Levi and Garrett Vogler of Red Cloud; and many other family members and friends.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.
