Dossie and Edith moved to Washougal, Washington in 1976 to be closer to their Children, Grandfather Bates passed away Feb. 28, 1977, at the time of Granny Bates death, she had 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by two Grandsons, Jimmy Dale Batten, and Eddie Dean Batten,

Edith I. Bates of Washougal died in Vancouver, November 13. She was 68 years old. She was born in Bokchito, Oklahoma; September 20, 1917 and had lived in Washougal since 1976.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Camas First Pentecostal Church and a CB club. Her handle was "Sunray".
Surviving are her son, Ed of Camas, daughters, Barbara Stump of Washougal; Eunice Walchar, Mary Jo Batten, both of Camas, and Vickie Sue Menefee of Auburn, WA; her brothers, Henry McCarley of Salina, Ok, Ray McCarley of Pollsborough, OK; sisters, Mary Young of Salina, OK, Sue Shadder of Lamont, CA, and Pearl Woods, of OK, 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at Bethel Community Church, November 15 with the Rev. Douglas Turek officiating. Burial was at Fern Prairie Cemetery. Browns Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
