• • Emma Mason was born February 27, 1861 at Melrose, Iowa, and died at Blue Hill Dec. 15, 1912, aged 51 years, 10 months and 12 days. July 7, 1880 she was united in marriage to Charles Wellman. To them were born seven children, six girls and one girl, and the boy preceding her into the unknown world when in their childhood. All the other children were at her bedside when she passed away. Mr. and Mrs. Wellman remained at Melrose three years after their marriage, when they moved to Kansas where they lived seven years, then coming to this community, settling on a farm east of town. About five years ago they moved to Blue Hill where they have since made their home. Mrs. Wellman has been in poor health for the past eighteen years from paralysis and in later years other complications have undermined her health. It has been her lot to endure intense suffering for a long period, but despite which she maintained a cheerful disposition and took much pleasure in life. Surely her reward will be great, and the eternal life she is now enjoying contains none of that sorrow which has been here on earth.
The funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Hummell, of Red Cloud, who gave words of comfort and cheer to the assembled relatives and friends.
