Neelie Elizabeth Bone Mercer, 91, the widower of Dueward B. "Stuckey" Mercer, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday evening, August 31, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Mercer was born a daughter of Walker Lee Bone and Mary Margaret "Maggie" Richardson Bone on May 2, 1920, in Georgetown, S.C.

She was a life-long resident of Georgetown County and a member of the Sampit United Methodist Church. She committed her life completing the requirements of endless hours of study and labor and mastered the obstacle course of life which earned her the distinguished title of Beloved Mother.

Neelie and Stuckey were married in April 29, 1938 and celebrated 67 years together. From their blessed union was born five sons, Dueward B. "Buddy" Mercer, Jr., William E. "Tumpy" (Mildred) Mercer, Roger Dale Mercer, George Allen "Joe" Mercer, Lonnie Dean Mercer; six daughters, Janette M. Miller, Betty Davis, Hellen M. Belcher, Patricia M. Howard, Sharon M. Pierce, and Wanda Mercer; and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two sons, Roger and Joe; eight brothers; and one sister.

A Salute To Mom will be graveside at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011 in the Sampit United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011, in the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
