ANDREWS - Francis Arthur ``F.A.'' Bone, 84, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Charleston.

He was born Feb. 6, 1915, in Georgetown County, a son of the late Leonard Walker Bone and Maggie Richardson Bone.

He was the widower of Pearl Davis Bone, who died in 1954.

He served in the Army in the European Theater during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was the owner and operator of F.A. Bone's Garage for several years and also a commercial fisherman.

He was a member of The Christian Fortress. He was a member of Frost Hunting Club and Stewart Neck Hunting Club.

Survivors include six sons, William L. ``Penny'' Bone, Thomas A. Bone Sr., and Harry L. Bone, all of Andrews, G. Davis Bone Sr., and Henry W. Bone, both of Georgetown, and Dwane P. Bone Sr. of Plantersville; two daughters, Joyce B. Altman, and Geraldine B. Miller, both of Georgetown; a sister, Neely B. Mercer of Georgetown; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Mayer Funeral Home of Andrews. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at The Christian Fortress. The Rev. Geraldine Bednego will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
