Harold Bailey, 61, of 905 Houghton St., lifelong resident of Ontonagon, died unexpectedly Monday night in his car 3 miles west of Ontonagon on M-64 due to a heart attack.
According to reports, Mr. Bailey had driven into the driveway of the Walter Curski home to turn around and backed into a small ditch. The car remained there for some time, the Curski children notified their father who investigated and called the sheriff's department and coroner Lyal Cane
Mr. Bailey was born here May 30, 1900 and was the son of Mrs. Lewis Bailey and the late Mr. Bailey. He attended Ontonagon schools and was employed by the Ontonagon Paper Co. For the past 8 years he had been employed by the White Pine Copper Co. pumping station at Silver City.
Surviving are his wife, the former Esther Erickson, 3 sons, Benn of Fairport Harbor, James of Ontonagon and Thomas at home, 1 daughter Mrs. Wesley Matthiesen of Chicago, his mother who is seriously ill at the Ontonagon Memorial hospital, 1 brother Edwin and 1 sister, Mrs. Stanley Cane both of Ontonagon.
