Mr. Dawson
Edward Washington Dawson, 77, Rt. 1, Leighton, died Thursday at Colbert County Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Lawrence County, a retired farmer, and a member of the baptist Church.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Laura Ellen Dawson, Rt. 1, Leighton; two sons, Travis O. and Harold M., Leighton, four sisters, Mrs. Kate Kurtain, Tuscumbia; Mrs. Gladys Steadman, Mrs. Jennie Crowden, and Mrs. Dovie Beaver, all of Sheffield; two brothers, Robert, Town Creek, and B. Tom, both of Town Creek; three grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Lee Sanderson and Rev. Emmitt Grissom. Burial will be in Hardshell Cemetery, Morrison-Elkins Funeral Home of Florence directing.
Bearers will be Willard Dawson, Robert Dawson, Ernest Jeffreys, Melvin Jeffreys, Rayford Brackins, John T. Marlar.
The body will be at the residence until time for services.
