LEIGHTON — Harold Masterson Dawson, 83, of Leighton, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016. His family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral servicce will be Sunday, 2 p.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Hollis Retherford officiating. Burial will follow in Hardshell Cemetery.
Mr. Dawson was a Lawrence County native and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Yvonne Dawson, parents, Edward and Laura Dawson, and his brother, Travis O'Neal Dawson.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Murphree Dawson; daughters, Debra Headrick (Mike), Sheila Aycock (Ricky), Cindy Summers (Mark); seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Harold Aycock, Ryan Masterson Headrick, Michael Corey Headrick, William Garrett Summers, Terry O'Neal Dawson and Adam Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Stewart, Jerry Summers, Billy Ray Dawson, Lendon Dawson and Nolan Ayers.
Harold was a great person, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He has touched the lives of so many people. He may be gone, but never forgotten.
