Watauga Democrat Obituary:
Mr. Willard Cline Watson, 89, of Route 1, Deep Gap, died Monday morning, Sept. 26, at his home.
He was born June 1, 1905, in the Stony Fork community of Watauga County. He was a retired rock mason and well-known wood craftsman. He was a member of Mount Paran Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ora Greer Watson; two daughters, Helen Parlier and Pansy Lewis, both of Deep Gap; two sons, Joe Watson and his wife, Shirley, of Lenoir and Sidney Watson and his wife, Reba, of Deep Gap; two brothers, Don Greene of Norfolk, Va., and Howard Greene of Boone; and one sister, Thelma Watson of Lenoir. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Herbert Watson; two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Triplett and Miss Sallie Watson; a grandson, Mr. Steve Lewis; a granddaughter, Mrs. Cathy Wilson; and three brothers, Mr. Ransom Greene, Mr. Doughton Greene and Mr. Fred Triplett.
Services were Wednesday afternoon at Mount Paran Baptist Church. Officiating were the Revs. Harvey Presnell, Roscoe Greene, Gary Watson and Bill Miller. Burial followed in the Mount Paran Church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Mount Paran Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Brice Greene, 11820 U.S. 221, South, Fleetwood, N.C. 28626.
