Joe Junior Watson, age 77, of Happy Hollow Lane, Lenoir, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Caldwell UNC Health Care. He was born March 6, 1937 in Watauga County to the late Willard Cline and Ora Greer Watson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Watson; four sisters, Helen Watson Parlier, Pansy Watson Lewis, Bonnie Watson Triplett and Sally Watson; one niece and one nephew.

Mr. Watson was retired from Bernhardt Furniture and was a member of First Advent Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Shirley Earp Watson of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Susan Watson Sansom and husband Paul of Williamsburg, Virginia; one brother, Sidney A. Watson and wife Reba of Deep Gap; one grandson, Charles Steven Heath ; one great-grandson, Andrew Heath; eight nieces and six nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at First Advent Christian Church conducted by Rev. Robert E. Hodges. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Greene, Bobby Crisp, Clifford Crisp, James Watson, Clyde Simmons and John Jenkins.
