U.S.S. Frederick Funston (APA-89) – 20 October 1944
At 2202 Perry Thomas FREDERICK, 2nd Lt., 0-1013450, Co. B, 763rd Tank Bn. U.S. Army died on board, after receiving medical treatment, due to wounds received in action against an organized enemy on the island of Leyte, Philippines Islands, in Lat. 10° 57’ N. Long. 125° 03’ E. The body was turned over to Army authorities on Blue Beach for burial by the Graves Registration Service. Source: War Diary for the month of October 1944 U.S.S. He was first buried in 7740 USAF Cemetery, Leyte #1, Palo, Leyte, Philippines Islands – Grave 5384, (D-D No. 2980). After the war (autumn of 1947) his remains (along with 8,568 other American soldiers) were disinterred and brought to the American Graves Registration Service Manila Mausoleum. From there, according to the wishes of his next of kin, Second Lieutenant, Perry Thomas Frederick was buried in his final resting place in the 7701 Ft. McKinley Cemetery (now known as the Manila American Cemetery) – Plot B, Row 10, Grave 130.
