He took part in the African, Sicilian, and Italian Campaigns and had only entered France a short time before he was before he was killed in action on August 22, 1944. He had been married to Beatrice Davis. Sgt Davis' name is inscribed on the Keyes Park Memorial in Du Quoin, Illinois.
