Civil War: Paul Abney was a Private, Company C, 31st Illinois Infantry. He mustered in September 18, 1861, with Company C was assigned to the Army of Tennessee in Feb 862. Paul died of disease Apr 28, 1862, at Paducah, Kentucky. His father Joshua and brother William took a wagon to retrieve his body, which was wrapped in cloth.

Prior Information provided by d.b. stone listed him as dying during the Siege of Corinth, Mississippi. However the battle at Corinth didn't start until April 29th. Paul died before his company reached Corinth.
