From this marriage, the 16th. child was born.

Abraham is buried in the Rehobeth Cemetery according the his death certificate. This cemetery is suppose to be in Morgan TWP, R#1 Poland, Indiana. It is also known as the Spears Cemetery. Sally Criss Davis his first wife might also be buried there.

Owen County Health Department, certificate of death, Abraham Davis, 28 Feb 1902 filed in book H 15 page 20; Abraham Davis died February 28, 1902 at Owen county. He was 71 years old, male, white, and married. He died of Valvular disease of the heart. Certified by J. Coble, Physician. He was buried in Rehobeth Cemetery on 2 March 1902 by G. W. Edwards funeral director.-----General Affidavit by J. Cobb on July 19, 1902 for Abraham's Civil War pension records on how he died. J. Cobb being duly sworn stated that he was personally acquainted with Abraham Davis late private Co E. 149th Indiana Vol. Inf. for twenty years and that for the quarter part of that time was his family physician and that for eighteen months prior to his death, which occurred Feb. 28th 1902, was in almost constant attendance upon him and that said Abraham Davis suffered from disease of lungs, rheumatism and resulting disease of heart also diarrhea and disease of rectum and that the immediate cause of death was "Valvular" disease of the heart. He was unable to lie down, being compelled to sit in his chair. He died suddenly in an attempt to walk from his chair to the bed. Name: Abraham J. On Feb. 16, 1865 Abraham was mustered in as a Private in the 149th. Reg't of Indiana Infantry. Credited?Addison TWP, Shelby Co. 6 Dist. Ind. and he was entitled to bounty. Abraham J. Davis, Private, Co. E, 149th. Reg't Indiana Inf. Age 35 yrs. was mustered out in Nashville, Tenn. on Sept 27, 1865. Have copies of his Civil War pension records dating from 1886 to April 1958 when Abraham and Mary's daughter, Mrs. Hazel Ooley who lived in Brazil, Indiana signed a paper stating that M. E. Davis died on 15 March 1958.

Jamestown was an early name for the village of Cameron in Monroe Co, OH.

OBITUARY:
Abraham J. Davis was born near Jamestown, Monroe County, Ohio, Oct. 14th. 1830. He came to Indiana and located in Owen County in 1851. In 1856 he was united in holy wedlock to Miss Sally Criss. This union was blessed with fifteen children, nine sons and six daughters, seven of whom have already preceded him to eternity. In 1864 he enlisted in the service of his county in company E, 149th regiment and served his county until the close of the War. In March 1889 he united with the christian church. On the 26th. day of June, 1895, death claimed his companion and on Sept. 11th., 1897, he was again married to Mary E. Laymon. This union was blessed with one child, a daughter. He lived in accordance with his Christian profession until death. He leaves a sorrowing widow, nine children, eighteen grand?children and a host of friends to mourn his departure. He departed this life February 28, 1902 at the ripe old age of seventy?one years, four months, fourteen days.

From this marriage, the 16th. child was born.

Owen County Health Department, certificate of death, Abraham Davis, 28 Feb 1902 filed in book H 15 page 20; Abraham Davis died February 28, 1902 at Owen county. He was 71 years old, male, white, and married. He died of Valvular disease of the heart. Certified by J. Coble, Physician. He was buried in Rehobeth Cemetery on 2 March 1902 by G. W. Edwards funeral director.-----General Affidavit by J. Cobb on July 19, 1902 for Abraham's Civil War pension records on how he died. J. Cobb being duly sworn stated that he was personally acquainted with Abraham Davis late private Co E. 149th Indiana Vol. Inf. for twenty years and that for the quarter part of that time was his family physician and that for eighteen months prior to his death, which occurred Feb. 28th 1902, was in almost constant attendance upon him and that said Abraham Davis suffered from disease of lungs, rheumatism and resulting disease of heart also diarrhea and disease of rectum and that the immediate cause of death was "Valvular" disease of the heart. He was unable to lie down, being compelled to sit in his chair. He died suddenly in an attempt to walk from his chair to the bed. Name: Abraham J. On Feb. 16, 1865 Abraham was mustered in as a Private in the 149th. Reg't of Indiana Infantry. Credited?Addison TWP, Shelby Co. 6 Dist. Ind. and he was entitled to bounty. Abraham J. Davis, Private, Co. E, 149th. Reg't Indiana Inf. Age 35 yrs. was mustered out in Nashville, Tenn. on Sept 27, 1865. Have copies of his Civil War pension records dating from 1886 to April 1958 when Abraham and Mary's daughter, Mrs. Hazel Ooley who lived in Brazil, Indiana signed a paper stating that M. E. Davis died on 15 March 1958.

Jamestown was an early name for the village of Cameron in Monroe Co, OH.

OBITUARY:
Abraham J. Davis was born near Jamestown, Monroe County, Ohio, Oct. 14th. 1830. He came to Indiana and located in Owen County in 1851. In 1856 he was united in holy wedlock to Miss Sally Criss. This union was blessed with fifteen children, nine sons and six daughters, seven of whom have already preceded him to eternity. In 1864 he enlisted in the service of his county in company E, 149th regiment and served his county until the close of the War. In March 1889 he united with the christian church. On the 26th. day of June, 1895, death claimed his companion and on Sept. 11th., 1897, he was again married to Mary E. Laymon. This union was blessed with one child, a daughter. He lived in accordance with his Christian profession until death. He leaves a sorrowing widow, nine children, eighteen grand?children and a host of friends to mourn his departure. He departed this life February 28, 1902 at the ripe old age of seventy?one years, four months, fourteen days.
