Gertrude Banning.
Gertrude Banning [nee Moyer], 85, of 211 Louis St., Osceola, died about 6 p.m. Thursday in Michiana Community Hospital, South Bend, after an illness. She was born Feb. 21, 1901, in Nappanee and had lived in Osceola for 43 years. In 1937 she married Harley Banning in Goshen. He died in 1980 [1983]. She is survived by a daughter, Allice Jordan of Niles; three sons, George Harlan of Bourbon, Carl Harlan of Liberty Mills, Ind., and Charles Harlan of Osceola; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Oscar Moyer of Dallas. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in South Union Cemetery, Nappanee. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Warner Funeral Home, Osceola."
