Vera Catchings was born in 1904 in Red Rock, Texas to J. Frank Catchings and Minnie "Lou" Smith Catchings. She was born along with a twin brother who did not survive. It is not known if he was stillborn or died shortly thereafter as no death certificate has been found. Vera died of diphtheria the of four in 1908 in Red Rock and is buried next to her parents and other siblings.
