O. P. Atkinson, 80, died at 12:55 p.m. today at the Latham Sanitarium. A retired St. Louis livestock buyer, he returned to his family home south of California five years ago and resided with two sisters, Miss Idonia and Miss Dora Atkinson.

He was very well-known throughout Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois and Arkansas where he purchased cattle.

Mr. Atkinson was born Nov. 7, 1872 in Miller County, east of Olean. He came to Moniteau County as a child. He was married Jan. 29, 1914 to the former Miss Cora Harmon of California. She died Sept. 29, 1940.

Survivors besides his tow sisters of near California, include one brother, Byron Atkinson of Barnett and another sister, Mrs. Fannie Keck of Tebbetts.

He was a member of the Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in a California funeral home with burial in the city cemetery.
