Roxa Ann Carpenter was born in 1875 in Page County, Iowa the fourth of seven children born to Ezra P. Carpenter and his wife Martha E. Hayner Carpenter. By the time she was 5 years old her parents had decided to go west. Between 1880 and 1890 her family lived in Nebraska and her next three siblings were born there. Between 1890 and 1900 the family moved on west thru Wyoming and Oregon and on to Yakima, Washington where they were settled by 1900. By 1910 her parents and most of her siblings and their spouses and children had moved on to settle in Chelan, Chelan Co., WA where most of them stayed and raised their children and their children's children. Most of them are buried there.

During her parents residence in Wyoming, Roxa met and married Hiram Leroy "Roy" Powers about 1897 or 1898 and stayed there when the rest of her family went on west. Roxa and Roy stayed in Wyoming and had their first three children, then moved to Powder River Co., Montana where their next 6 children were born and they resided. Their children are: Victor Leroy Powers b. 1900, Gladys Roxa Powers b. abt 1902, Mildred E. Powers b. abt 1905, Harry S. Powers b. abt 1907, Marjorie B. Powers b. abt 1909, Helen E. Powers b. abt 1912, Josephine Powers b. abt 1913, Doris Fern Powers b. abt 1915 and Gerald T. Powers b. 1919."
