MRS. J. R. BRADY DEAD
The hearts of Caney people were saddened yesterday morning by the sudden death of Mrs. J. R. Brady, at the family home, 420 North State street. She had been ill but a few days and the news of her death came as a great shock to everyone. Only last Sunday she was up and about the home entertaining her children and those of neighbors who visited there.

On Sunday afternoon she became ill and her condition rapidly grew worse until Monday afternoon when it became alarming. Everything possible was done but to no avail. Specialists wore called and members of the family summoned. The end came about 2 o'clock yesterday morning. Her husband was absent from the city and did not arrive until last evening although word was sent to him as soon as her critical condition became known. He was in Idaho and had bad train connections on the way. No details for the funeral were made at press time last night.

The deceased leaves her husband and five children to mourn the untimely death of a beloved wife and mother. Mrs. Brady was truly a home loving woman and was devoted to her children and home life. Besides her immediate family she leaves a mother and father and two sisters. The eldest of the five children is but about fifteen years and the youngest a baby of only a few months.

The sincere sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family. Her father and sisters arrived here before her death having been called on Tuesday from Galena.

Brady-Murphy Wedding

Miss Mary Frances Murphy and Mr. J. Robert Brady were united in marriage at St. Patrick's church in Empire City Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock.

The ceremony was performed in accordance with the ritualistic service of the Catholic church. Father Ready, of Mineral, assisted by Father Clinton, of Joplin, officiating. Mrs. M. Cummings, of Joplin, played the wedding march as the bridal party entered the church and advanced to the altar.

Miss Josephine Murphy, a sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and Mr. Jack Sullivan, of Brockton, Mass., as groomsman. The ring ceremony was used in the wedding service.

After the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served to the bridal party and guests at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Murphy, who live a short distance from the church.

The out of town guests were Mrs. M. Cummings, of Joplin; Miss Catherine Sullivan, and Mr. Jack Sullivan, of Brockton, Mass.; Mrs. J. R. Brady, of Chicago, mother of the groom; and Mr. Guy F. Lee, of Tulsa, I.T.

The bride is one of the popular and accomplished young ladies of Empire City. Mrs. Brady has grown of womanhood here, and up to her marriage reigned as one of the leading belles in Galena society circles. A charming personality had gained for her an extensive list of appreciative friends over the entire city.

The groom is an industrious young man of ability, and is at the present time editor and publisher of the Tulsa World, one of the leading papers of the new state of Oklahoma. Before starting in business for himself, Mr. Brady was city editor of the Galena Evening Times, and it was while he was thus employed that he met Miss Murphy.

Mr. and Mrs. Brady left for a trip through the southern states, where they will spend a couple of weeks, returning to Tulsa, where the groom has a home already prepared.

The couple had five children, all but one, born in Kansas. Their firstborn was James Murphy (born in Tulsa, Oklahoma), followed by Governor James Hezekiah, Rose Anna [Keller], Mary Josephine, and James Robb Brady Junior.

J. Robb Junior was only six months old when Frankie died, and his father, James Robb Sr., who was a newspaper editor, died when J. Robb Jr. was six.

After Frankie's death, her family moved to Idaho, and her sister, Josephine Murphy, traveled there to care for and nurture, and eventually adopt (after the death of their father in 1926), the Brady children.
