HAWK - STRINE WEDDING. Simplicity marked the marriage of Miss Wilda LaVerne Hawk and Earl Edward Strine, which took place Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist parsonage in Effingham. The Rev. Phonce Mitchell, pastor of the church, performed the impressive ceremony. The only attendant was Mrs. Mitchell, wife of the minister. The bride, a charming and beautiful blonde, is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Hawk, 1 1/2 mile northwest of Effingham. She has spent her entire life in this community and for the past two years, since her graduation from the Atchison County Community High School, has been her mother's most efficient homemaker and helper. For her wedding dress she chose an ensemble of navy blue net over a blue taffeta slip, embroidered in a light shade of fuchsia, with the same color trimming.
The groom is the only son of Harry Strine, who lives three miles north of Effingham. He is a young man of fine character and by his devotion to duty has won widespread popularity in this vicinity since moving to Effingham from Monrovia. He is a graduate of the Atchison County Community High School with the class of 1928 and is associated with his father in the farming industry. The couple will be at home to their many friends on the Dale farm, north of Effingham.
