EUGENE JOSEPH BATES: 88; Rt 6-Box 44, died at his home Monday [8-13]. MrBates was born in Dodgeville WI & had resided in the commun-ity the past 56yrs & in California since 1872. On Aug 3 he & his wife celebrated their 66th wedding anniv. He was a retired machinist.
Survivors include his widow-Effie-Bakersfield; daus: Eileen Bartenstein & Helen Hillier-Bakers-field; Ruth Jones-DeerPark WA; Harriet Ahr-St Marys ID; Kay Fuller-LongBeach; 9 grandchild-ren; 15 gr-grandchildren; 1 bro: Raymond Bates-LosAngeles; 1 sis: Louise Wickham-Beckley WV.
Service will be held tomorrow [8-17] at the Hopson Mortuary Chapel; the RevR Ornan Roberts will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot at UnionCem. Pallbearers will be Hugh & Roger Bartenstein, Eugene Hillier, Harold Dye, Oliver Keough & LD Wallace. The Hopson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
