Henry G. Schmidt Sr.,age 68,of Eagle Lake,passed away May 12 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital in Houston following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held for Mr.Schmidt Saturday,May. 14 from the Grace Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake under the arrangement of Dulany Funeral Home with Pastor Al Flathmann officiating.

Burial was at Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake.

Mr.Schmidt was born January 8,1920 in Nada to George J. Schmidt and Bertha Findeisen Schmidt.He married Annie May Brast Schmidt on September 12,1944 in Sealy.

He was a lifelong-resident of the area with a lifelong career in agriculture.In his lifetime he was a farmer and cattleman and broke horses in his youth.

Mr.Schmidt was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Eagle Lake,serving his church as Sunday School Supt. for a number of years,also serving as councilman for the church many times over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents,a brother,Arthur Schmidt,a sister,Thilda Birdwell and two brother-in-laws,two nephews and a niece.

Survivors include his wife,Annie May Schmidt of Eagle Lake;daughter and son-in-law,Delores and Kenneth Vasina of Houston;son,Henry Schmidt Jr. of Eagle Lake;grandson,Jared Henry Schmidt;sisters,Mary Zahradnick and Erna Cloat both of Eagle Lake,and Alena Richter of weimar;brothers,Johnnie Schmidt of Cat Spring and August Schmidt of Eagle Lake;numerous nieces,nephews and other relatives and a host of loved ones.

Pallbearers scheduled were Arthur Schmidt Jr.,Ben Castillo,Allen Shimek,Carl Hammermiller,Randy Sanders,Gale Thomas,Bertrand Brast and Johnnie Vasut.

Honorary. pallbearers memtioned were Rex and Roy Sanders,Lawrence Shimek,Sid Harmon,Butch Parma,Alvin Kohleffel,Charles Spalinger,Bill Appelt,Harrison Walker and George Birdwell.
