Alena Bertha Schmidt Richter,81,of Weimar,passed away on June 9.
The funeral service was held June 12 at the Weimar UCC with Rev.Jerry Carpenter officiating.
Interment followed at the Weimar Masonic Cemetery.
Alena was born Aug.15,1925 to George and Bertha Schmidt in Eagle Lake.
She attended school in Vox Populi and Old Grove.
She married Hugo Richter Sr. in 1944 in Monterrey,Calif.
Alena lived in California while her husband was in the service for three years and remained in California four years after his service was complete.
She lived her life as a wife,mother and grandmother.
Alena loved to cook for her family.Her granddaughters and nieces were her favorite pastime.She enjoyed sewing,crocheting,gardening,and raising animals of all kinds.
She is survived by her son,Hugo Richter Jr. and wife Deena of Weimar and granddaughters,Angela and Vicki Richter.
She is preceded in death by her husband;brothers,Johnnie Schmidt of Cat Spring,Henry Schmidt of Eagle Lake,August Schmidt of Eagle Lake and Arthur Schmitt of Weimar;sisters,Mary Schmitt Zahradnick of Eagle Lake,Erna Schmidt Cloat of Eagle Lake and Tilda Schmidt Birdwell of Eagle Lake.
Pallbearers were Johnnie Schmitt,Gorden Richter,Edwin Schmitt,James Engbrock,Wilber Lucko,and Robert Schroeder.
