Surprise Party Held for Rock Falls Pair

ROCK FALLS, March 3.—Forty relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hansen surprised them at their country home Friday evening in commemoration of their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. The evening was spent playing five hundred. Mr. and Mrs. Hanson were married at the home of Mrs. Hansen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Christiansen. Shortly after their marriage they purchased a farm in Portland township where they resided every since. They have six children, all of whom live In this locality,

NORA SPRINGS - Christina S. Hansen, 87, died at Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City Sunday morning.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. Burial will.be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City with Sheckler Funeral Home of Nora Springs in charge. Born April 8, 1878, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, she was the daughter of L. N. and Maria Christiansen. The family came to Iowa when she was an infant.

She was married to Henry Hansen, March 2, 1899. They farmed east of Mason City. He died in 1941. Mrs. Hansen lived in Nora Springs and with her daughter, Mrs. Adolph Kramer, Mason City, until going to the home in 1963.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Adolph (Erna) Kramer, Mason City; four sons, Herman Hansen, Plymouth; Rudolph Hansen, Grundy Center; Arnold Hansen, Floyd; Everett Hansen, Mason City; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Jay (Dora) Clough, Nora Springs; Laura Martin, Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, a granddaughter and three brothers.

C HONOR TWINS ON 70TH BIRTHDAY

Nora Springs Couple Greeted by Relatives Nora Springs Nora Springs' oldest twins, Mrs. Christina Hansen and John Christiansen, were honored Thursday night at a birthday party in the American Legion hall. About 50 relatives offered their felicitations to the pair on the occasion of their 70th birthday.
The twins were born in Hottstead, Germany, April 8, 1878, as 2 of 6 children of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Christiansen. All of their brothers and sisters are living. They are: George Christiansen of Mason City; Henry Christiansen of Salem, Ore.; Mrs. Dora Clough of Nora Springs and Mrs. Laura Martin of Mason City.
When the twins were a year old the family immigrated to the United States, settling on a farm in Clinton county, where they lived for 2 years. They then moved to "Cameron Switch," on a farm 5 miles south and one east of Mason City, and a year later to the "home farm" north of Nora Springs.
During 65 of their 70 years, Mrs. Hansen and Mr. Christiansen have been residents of the Nora Springs community.
They each have 6 children, Mrs. Hansen has 4 sons and 2 daughters and Mr. Christiansen has 4 daughters and 2 sons.
Mrs. Hansen's children are: Mrs. Oswald Bailey of Sioux City, Herman Hansen of Plymouth. Mrs. A. C. Kramer of Rock Falls, R. H. Hansen of Nora Springs, Arnold Hansen of Floyd and Everett Hansen, Mason City. She also has 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mr. Christiansen's children are: Mrs. Ferry Tibbits. Hanlontown, Mrs. Lew Stupka, Fredrick, Wis., Mrs. Gail Bailey of Plymouth, Mrs. Herbert Wyborny of Plymouth, Leonard Christiansen, Ventura, and Clarence Christiansen of Mason City. John has 16 grandchildren.
Both Mrs. Hansen and Mr. Christiansen have the best of health.
