Christiansen, Pioneer of Nora Springs, Will Be Buried Wednesday
NORA SPRINGS. Oct. 22. L. N. Christiansen, a resident of this vicinity for 50 years, died Sunday morning following a long illness. He succumbed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. Clough. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o clock in charge of the Rev. A. A. Rideout of Charles City and the Rev. J. E. DeLong. Burial will be in Park cemetery, beside his wife, who died 15 years ago.

Christiansen Funeral Will Be Conducted at Nora Springs Church
NORA SPRINGS, Oct; 23. Funeral services for L. N. Christiansen, 84, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the M. E. Church, the Rev. A. A. Rideout in charge, assisted by the Rev. J. E. DeLong.

Mr. Christiansen was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He learned the wagon maker trade in Germany and came as a youth to the United States. He worked at this trade for several years and later took up farming, which he worked at until 1904, when he moved to Nora Springs which has since been his home.

For six years he served as county superintendent. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, the consistory and the Shrine. He held the thirty-second degree in Masonry.

Surviving are six children, John and Mrs. Dora Clough of Nora Springs, George, Mrs. Christina Hansen and Mrs. Laura Martin of Mason City and Henry of Roseburg, Ore, His wife, formerly Maria Hinrichsen, proceeded him in death in 1919.

The pallbearers, who are grandchildren, will be Herman, Rudolph and Arnold Hansen, Elmer and Leonard Christiansen and L. D. Stupka.

In 1879, Lorenz Nicholai Christiansen and his wife, Maria Henrichsen Christiansen and their one year old twins, John and Christina came to the country from Germany. They came to Falls Twp. about 1882 living 3 1/2 miles southeast of Rock Falls.
Four more children were born to Nick (as he was known to most people) and Maria. They were Henry, George, Dora and Laura.

L.N. helped his brothers, Tom, Jens and Broder, as well as his folks to come to this country. His father, John died in 1895. His mother, Christina in 1888. They are buried in the Rock falls Cemetery.
In about 1899 a new house was built on the farmstead.

When Wilhem Henrichsen (brother of Maria) came to this country, they lived in the old house until they were established on the Stebens farm S.W. of Rock falls.
In 1899 Henry Hansen and Christina Christiansen were married. To this union: Herman, Marie, Erna, Rudolph, Arnold and Everett were born.

On Feb. 20, 1902 John Christiansen and Carolina (Lena) Wohlert were married. In 1904, John bought 200 acres from his father and L.N. moved to Nora Springs. Six children were born to John and Lena: Elsie, Minna, Viola, Luella, Leonard and Clarence.
In Aug 1918 Lena passed away after an operation leaving her youngest child less than 11 months and the oldest 15 years.

On Feb 25, 1920 John married Meta Petersen, who had lost her husband. Her children were: Carson, Arthur, Arnold.

On Feb 24, 1904 George Christiansen was married to Dora Hansen. They spent most of their life on a farm 2 1/2 miles south of Rock Falls. Their children are: Emma, Elmer and Earl.

Henry Christiansen married Clara Hansen in Jan 1904. He tried several occupations before going to Malta, Montana to stake out a claim on some farm land there. Later he moved to Oregon. Their children are: LaBonna, Harold, Clayton and Loren.
Dora was married to Jay Clough and for many years she lived with her father in Nora Springs. She had one son, Harold Winters.

Laura was married to John Martin, who died following an auto accident. She is the only member of the L.N. died in Nora Springs, on Oct 21, 1934. Maria had died in Nora Springs on July 4, 1919. Both are buried in Nora Springs.

The only grandchild of L.N. Christiansen who has spent her entire lifetime in Falls Twp. is John's daughter, Luella, who married Herbert Wyborny. The first lived 3 3/4 miles northeast of Rock Falls. Later 2 1/4 miles west of Rock Falls. Herbert passed away on Nov 15, 1969 On April 8, 1972 Luella Wyborny and George Kaldenberg were married at the Old Stone Church in Rock Falls and are living at the farm 2 1/4 miles east of Rock Falls.
