Dorothy Arlene (Forney) Hitz, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 25, 2010, at Twin Oaks Nursing Home. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Warren H. Hitz, Sr. She was born Sunday, June 24, 1923, in North Londonderry Township, to the late Harry S. and Lizzie (Smith) Forney. She retired from M.S. Hershey Medical Center where she worked in the glassware laboratory. She was a member of Campbelltown United Methodist Church where she served on the missions commission, and was a former member of 4-H economics and served as 4H leader for many years. She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Hall and husband, Michael of Harrisburg; two sons, Warren H. Hitz, Jr. and wife, Elaine of Perry, Ga., and Harry A. Hitz and wife, Sandy of Annville; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four sisters, Mary A. Wade, Helen M. Dohner, Ruth K. Dohner, and Sarah E. Kreider; and two brothers, Cyrus J. and Homer S. Forney. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, 17078 with the Rev. J. Thomas Truitt officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in Campbelltown United Christian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Campbelltown United Methodist Church, 2760 Horseshoe Pike, Campbelltown, PA 17010.
