Mrs. Lizzie S. Forney, 80, died Saturday at 3:20 p.m. at her home, Palmyra RD 1, following an eight-month illness. She was the widow of Harry S. Forney, a former Lebanon County commissioner, who died in 1963. Mrs. Forney was born in North Cornwall Township, a daughter of the late Cyrus and Agnes Light Smith. She was a member of First Evangelical United Brethren Church, Palmyra; the Home Department of the Sunday School and the Women's Society of World Service of the church. Mrs. Forney was instrumental in organizing Group Three of the Society of Farm Women in Lebanon County on Oct. 9, 1941. She received a life membership in the organization several years ago. Mrs. Forney is survived by two sons, Cyrus J. Forney and Dr. Homer S. Forney, both of Palmyra; five daughters, Mrs. Mary A. Wade, Campbelltown; Mrs. Helen M. Dohner, Palmyra; Ruth, wife of Elwood Dohner, Lebanon RD 5; Sara, wife of Joseph M. Kreider, Lebanon RD 4; and Dorothy, wife of Warren Hitz, Hershey RD 1; 17 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Forney Heagy, Lebanon RD 4, and Mrs. Annie Shearer, Wernersville.
