OTHAL ITIS DAWSON
Othal Itis Dawson,son of Charley T.and Mary Moulin Dawson,was born in Daviess County,Mo.near Gillman City,Oct.19,1873 and departed this life at the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital Oct.5,1956,at the age of 82 years,11 months and 16 days.
Most of his life was spent in Daviess and Sullivan Counties.
In 1900 he was united in marriage to Stella Ridenour who preceded him in death in 1901.To this union one daughter was born,Stella Imo Hostetter,who died in 1943.
On Nov.18,1903 he was united in marriage to Lillie R.Dearing and they were the parents of two daughters,Mrs.Raymond (Esther) Hatcher of Twin Falls,Idaho;the other daughter dying in infancy,and Mrs.Lillie Dawson died April 18,1956.
He leaves besides his daughter,Esther,eight grandchildren,Roberta Hancock,Esther Ruth Griffin,of Kansas City;R.J.Hostetter Fairfield,Iowa;Garner Hostetter of the U.S.Air Force and Doris Biggs of Los Angeles,Calif.;Jeanette Pearson,Milan;Carolyn and Keith Hatcher of Twin Falls,Idaho.Four great-grand-children,two sons-in-law,four brothers,Harry and Estal of Gillman City;Guy Dawson of Trenton;Pete Dawson of Dixon,Mo.;two sisters,Daisy Canady of Pleaston,Kansas,and Bessie Marrs of Trenton.
He was also preceded in death by his father,mother,three brothers,Roy,Louie and Lonal;two sisters,Flossie Dawson and Mollie Weldon.
Services were held at the Asbury Church at 2 p.m.Monday,October 8,1956,conducted by Rev.V.F.Walker.
The song service was by the Asbury Choir accompanied by Mrs.Dale Barnett at the piano.
The bearers were Norris and Morris Keithley,Robert McClaran,Caroll Leonard,Ross Reger and Haskell Lee.
Burial was in the Asbury cemetery under the direction of Schoenes.
