Mrs.Bessie Marrs Dies At Home
Mrs.Bessie Marrs,83,long-time Grundy County resident,died at her home on Route 1,Saturday morning.She had been ill since January.
The body was removed to the Slater Funeral Home where services will be held at 2:30 p.m.,Sunday.
Clayton Davis will officiate.Burial will be in the Hill Cemetery, south of Gilman City.
Mrs.Marrs was born Jan.21,1886 in Harrison County,the daughter of Charles and Mary Louise Moulin Dawson.She attended Bancroft school.
She lived most of her life in Harrison and Grundy counties.She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trenton.
On August 10,1905 she was married at Trenton to Clarence Verne Marrs.He died Sept.3,1949.
Her survivors include seven daughters,Irene,now Mrs.Homer Routh of Route1,Frances,now Mrs.Harley Garrison of Laredo,Lela,now Mrs.
Raymond Baker of Macon,Daisey,now Mrs.James Aldridge,Erma,now Mrs.
Don Thomas,Louise,now Mrs.Ramsey Taylor,Beatrice,now Mrs.Ernest Carr,all of Farmersville;and five sons,Roy Marrs of Kansas City,Guy Henry Marrs and Max Marrs,both of Laredo;Jesse Lee Marrs of Monence, Ill.and Jay D. Marrs of San Jose,Calif.,two brothers,Guy Dawson and Harry Dawson of Gilman City;32 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
