L.R. Dawson Dies of Heart Attack
FORMER LOCAL TEACHER'S FATHER LIVED ALL HIS LIFE IN SAME COMMUNITY
L.R. Dawson died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 10:30 Sunday night at his home four miles northwest of Jamesport. He had been in poor health for several years. Mr. Dawson was the father of Mrs. B.F. Ware, of Jamesport, the former Marie Dawson at one time a teacher at Brainerd school.
Born on a farm in Daviess county near old Bancroft, Sept. 21, 1873, he spent his entire life on a farm in the same community. He was one of the 14 children of Charles and Mary Moulin Dawson.
On March 1,1904, he was married to Mary Hughes who survives. Survivors besides the widow,and daughter Mrs. Ware, are a daughter Mrs. J.F. Gillette of Jamesport; two grandchildren Mary Marie Gillette and Enna Louise Gillette; two sisters, Mrs.Daisy Cannady of Pleasanton,Kan., and Mrs.Vern Marrs of Laredo; and five brothers, Othel Dawson of Harris, Guy,Estel, and Harry Dawson of Gilman City, and Pete Dawson of Trenton.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. A.A. Wooderson Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the Gilman City Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Gilman City Masonic cemetery. The body was taken from Davis funeral home in Jamesport to the family home late Monday afternoon.
