East Peoria, IL - Melvon Lee Stoneburner, 71, of 308 Keayes Ave. died at 9:44 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 1997, at his residence.

Born May 5, 1925, in Litchfield to Frederick and Amelia McGilvary Stoneburner, he married Betty Feehan on May 29, 1945, in East Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Richard and Dennis, both of East Peoria, and Kevin of Aurora, Colo.; three daughters, Brenda Reay of Peoria Heights, Debora Badgley of Deer Creek and Diana Null of Morton; two brothers, Charles of Litchfield and Marcus of Muscatine, Iowa; one sister, Ethel Picco of Peoria; 10 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death. He was a salvage repairman for Caterpillar Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1981 from Building SS in East Peoria.

A World War II Navy veteran, he was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2078. He also was a member of American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville.

He was a member of the Izzaak Walton League and Caterpillar Retirees Club.

He was a past scoutmaster for Boy Scouts Troop 40 at Washington Grade School in East Peoria.

Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery.
