Obituary

Alfred Harris Hecox was born in Allen County October 30, 1869. He lived in Allen County all his life with the exception of two years spent on the west coast.
He was married to Miss Josie Rhoadabarger in 1889. Two children were born to this union, Harry and Ray Hecox. Both are deceased. Mr. Hecox leaves one grandson, Jack Hecox of Denver, Colorado; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harry Hecox of Denver; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Hecox, and two nephews.
Mr. Hecox was appointed Post master of Iola in 1914. He was elected Finance Commissioner of Iola in 1923 serving three terms. He was elected Mayor of Iola in 1929. Mr. Hecox was a member of the Presbyterian Chruch. Death claimed him on May 2nd, 1961, aged 91 years, 5 months, 2 days.
Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Tom Nyquist of May 4th, 1961 in the Sleeper Chapel. Burial was in the family lot in the Iola Cemetery.
