Obituary--John William Hekox
John William Hekox was born in Adams County, Illinois, 3 September 1865. He moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jearmiah Hekox, to Iola, Allen County, Kansas when he was one year old and lived and grew to manhood.
He was united in marriage to Jennie E. Oshel 16 February 1887. To this union seven children were born, namely Mrs. Blanche Potter, Hooker, Oklahoma; [Mrs. Wava Dye, Tyrone, Oklahoma]; Jay M. Hecox, Haviland, Kansas; Mrs. Ada Snook, May, Oklahoma; Glenn E. Hecox, Haviland, Kansas; Mrs. Edna Bradford, Hooker; Ivan Hecok, Hooker.
Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his loss ten grandchildren, his mother and step-father, one sister, two brothers, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He departed this life 1 April 1920, at the age of 54 years, 7 months, and 28 days.
