Married at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. McKinley, on the 19th of December, 1888, Mr. John W. Prather and Mrs. Joe S. Shivers--R. T. Harvey, J. P., officiating.

The Journal office was remembered with one of the wedding cakes. May our friend John and his wife live long and happily together and prosper.

Rites Held in Minden For Mother of Local Men

Funeral services for Mrs. Joe S. Prather, 82, mother of M. W. Prather and J. G. Prather of Shreveport, were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Minden Baptist Church, with the Rev. Norville Marshall officiating. Interment was in the Dykesville cemetery under direction of Norton Funeral Home. Mrs. Prather died early Wednesday morning at the Minden Sanitarium.

She is also survived by five daughters, Mrs. B. L. Thomas and Mrs. W. O. Thomas, both of Homer, Mrs. A. O. Norton of Haynesville, Mrs. A. G. Alexander and Miss Bobby Prather of Minden; three other sons, J. M. Prather and J. D. Prather of Minden and H. R. Prather of Sarepta; one sister, Mrs. C. A. Gandy of Homer; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
