George Alexander Carpenter


Born in Mitchell County, N.C., September 26, 1881, George Alexander Carpenter was the son of Richard Carpenter and Matilda Dixon Carpenter.

George Alexander Carpenter married Viola Mendenhall.

He had retired from being an employee of R J R Tobacca Co.

On July 8, 1966, Winston Salem, Forsyth County, N.C., George Alexander Carpenter, still married, died at the age of 84.

Burial: Woodland Cemetery, Winston Salem, N.C., July 10, 1966

Viola Mendenhall was actually Sybil Viola Baker, b. abt 1900 who was previously married to Calvin Faw Mendenhall about 1929-1930. She married George in 1938, but her burial is unknown. Her perents were Sidney Lee Baker and Gertrude D. Hill, both of Surry County, NC. Sidney's burial is unknown and Gertrude is buried at New Home UMC in East Bend.
