Amos Warren Fletcher was born about 1845, in Rush County Indiana, his father, James, was 26 and his mother, Effie (McCann), was 20. He married Alma Viola Wakefield and they had three children together. He then had one son from another relationship. He died on February 4, 1918, in Nebraska, at the age of 73, and was buried in Atchison, Kansas.
