Gretchen Vogel Dies.,
Fails to Recover From Operation for Appendicitus.

Miss Gretchen Vogel, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vogel, 609 West State Street, died at the Deaconess hospital at 4:40 o'clock Tuesday afternoon of complications following an operation for acute appendicitus. Miss Vogel was taken to the hospital Sept. 10 for an emergency operation.

She was born in this city Oct. 25, 1908 and has made her home here all her life. She was graduated from the Marshalltown high school in the class of 1927 and lasst year attended the Leslie School for Girls in Cambridge, Mass. She was preparing to leave for the east to continue her schooling when she bacame ill. She is survived by her father and mother, and Miss Mabel Ordway, an aunt, who has made her home with the Vogels.

Funeral services will be held in Pursel's funeral home at 10 o'clock Friday morning in charge of Rev. Willis K. Williams. Burial will be in Riverside."

Death certificate lists age at death: 19yrs, 10 months, 24 days.
