VALDOSTA - Mr. Rowe Dolphus Bowen, Jr., 91, died Sunday.

Survivors: daughter, Brenda and Gary Floyd; granddaughter, Ashley Stapleton; son Chuck and Rosita Bowen and their children, Danny (Wendy) and Andrea Bowen; three great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Carolyn Clark; and other relatives.

Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Graveside services with military honors will be 11:30 Thursday at the Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Rowe Dolphus Bowen Jr.
VALDOSTA, Ga. - Mr. Rowe Dolphus Bowen Jr., age 91, died Sunday in Suwanee, Ga., following a brief illness. The Bulloch County native was born in 1918 in Register, Ga., to the late Rowe Dolphus Bowen Sr. and Ora Deloach Bowen. He was a 1936 graduate of Register High School and a 1938 graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga. Mr. Bowen served in the U.S. Army Air Corps (now USAF), where he was a member of the 2nd Air Division, 445th Bomber Group. He was a pilot of a B24 Liberator in World War II and flew 30 combat missions over Germany. Mr. Bowen was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. At the time of his discharge, Mr. Bowen had attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. He retired from the US Postal Service after many years of service and was a member of the Evening Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Berman, Johnny, W.B. and Bobby Bowen; and a sister, Ruby B. Tuten.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Gary Floyd of John's Creek, Ga.; a granddaughter, Ashley Stapleton of John's Creek, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Rosita Bowen of Turlock, Calif.; and their children, Danny (Wendy) and Andrea Bowen, all of Turlock, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, a stepdaughter, Carolyn Clark of Augusta, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Neal and Betty Bowen of Register, Ga.; and a sister, Mickie Kennedy of Gainesville, Ga.

Visitation will be Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

The graveside service, with military honors, will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the Lower Lott's Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Jack Anderson officiating.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind, 5626 Laura Walker Road, Waycross, Ga. 31503.
