An obituary published in the Windsor Gazette on October 5, 1926 for Charles O. Bruce, states that he had died October 3, 1926. He had been cared for during that week in the home of his sister, Mrs. George Garvin. He was born in Windsor, January 5, 1868, the son of J. D. and Eleanor Bruce, being the 7th of eight children. He was a member of the Windsor Christian Church and holding practically every office of the church including elder, trustee and chairman of the board. He married Miss Mollie McVay, July 1, 1896, and she had died October 22, 1923. Surviving was one son, John Robert Bruce, who was 17 years old and a senior in the Windsor community high school. Also surviving were sisters, Mrs. Belle [George] Garvin of Windsor, Mrs. Ada [James A.] Moberley of Tallulah, Louisiana and Mrs. Hunter [John W.] Moberley of Mattoon; one half-brother, Bertrand Bruce and a step-mother, Mrs. J. D. Bruce, both of Eagle Rock, California. Burial was in Windsor Cemetery.
