Death Takes Ada M Smith

Funeral services for Ada May Smith, Vancouver resident for 50 years, were held at 3:30 p.m. today at Ross Hollywood Chapel, 4733 N.E. Thompson, Portland. Her grandson, Rev, Vernon Ross Jr. officiated.

She died Tuesday in Vancouver at the age of 84.

Born May 9, 1869 in Iowa, she resided at Columbia View River Nursing Home for the past one and a half years. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist.

Surviving her are one son, Ed­ward F. Ayers, Portland: one daughter, Mrs. Cora Ross, Port­land, and four brothers, George L. Carter in Nebraska; John E. Carter, Hillsboro, Ore.; Fred B. Carter in Oregon, and Harry A. Carter, Rainier. She is also sur­vived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Four of her grandchildren live in the Vancou­ver area. They are Mrs. Eva Wilson, Hockinson; James C. Ayers, Portland; and Mrs. Helen Dahl­strom and Sylvon J, Ayers, both of Vancouver.
