One of 10 children born to Nels and Ann (Anderson) Thompson, she was born April 13, 1889, in Aastad Township. She attended rural school in Aastad Township.
On June 24, 1908, she and Thorvald Bakke were married in the Rock Prairie Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Aastad Township until World War II, when they moved to Seattle to work. They returned to live in Buse Township in 1946 when they retired.
She lived at the Augustana Apartments and in 1978, became a resident of the Pioneer Nursing Home.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Herb (Avis) Bach-Sherwood of Oregon; three sons, Donald of Flager Beach, Fla., Burnell of Fergus Falls, and Warren of St. Louis Park; one sister, Mrs. Lee (Elien) Ingrahm of Washington.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the funeral at the nursing home chapel.
