Mrs. Alice Gentry Leftwich, 85, died at her home on the Nashville Road near Baxter Crossroads Sunday morning, May 23, after a long illness. She was the widow of the late Joe Leftwich, and was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Chapel of Carver's Funeral Home. Rev. H. E. Davis of Gainesboro officiated. Interment in the Smellage Cemetery.
Survivors include 6 sons, John S. and Ernest Leftwich of Nashville; S.M. Leftwich of Monterey; Arden Leftwich of White House, TN; Theron Leftwich of Baxter; Leonard Leftwich, Detroit, MI; 2 daughters, Mrs. Fred Judd, Baxter and Mrs. Preston Bartlett, Detroit, MI; 2 brothers Elmore Gentry, Monterey and Sterling Gentry, McEwen, TN; 25 grandchildren & 5 stepgrandchildren.
