Mrs. Mamie Bennett of Old Boonshill Road, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Lincoln County Hospital following a long illness. She was 85 years old and the wife of the late A. M. Bennett, who died in 1956.

Services were Friday afternoon in the Gallant Funeral Home chapel, with Eugene West officiating. Burial was in Gum Springs Cemetery.

A native of Tyler, Texas, she was the daughter of the late John and Callie Bates. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Willie Campbell and Mrs. Virginia DeMore, both of Fayetteville, Mrs. Houston Campbell and Mrs. Delma Brewer, both of Elora, and Mrs. Augustine Murphy of Green Acres, Florida; one sister, Mrs. Essie Wright, Fayetteville; three brothers, Roy Bates and Carl Bates, both of Estill Springs, and Raymond Bates of Flintville; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
