Mary Catherine (Wolfe) Johns, 88, of Adrian went to be with her Lord from Sugarcreek Rest Sunday, March 27, 2005. She was born Nov. 25, 1916 in East Franklin Township to McKinley and Stella (Roofner) Wolfe. Mrs. Johns was a member of the Brush Valley Brethren Church and its Tuesday Morning Bible Study and Prayer Service. She enjoyed search-a-word puzzles. Survivors include three daughters, Delores "Dorie" Hooks and husband George of Adrian, Marie Ringley and husband Frank and Lois Hall and husband David, all of Massillon, Ohio; four grandchildren, George Hooks Jr. and wife Cheryl of Cowansville RD1, Kimberly Williams and husband Tim of Chicora, Cheryl Murray and husband Mike of Dalton, Ohio and Pamela Whittaker and husband Mark of Wooster, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren, Elyse, Ethan, Cullen, Amanda, Allison, Bill, Heather and Kelly; two brothers, Jacob Wolfe and wife Helen and Raymond Wolfe and wife Phylis, all of Adrian; two sisters, Edith "Mae" Armrose of Manorville and Virginia Roncher of Adrian; two half- brothers, Richard Wolfe and Jerry Wolfe, both of Butler; and one half-sister, Linda Black of Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilfred E. Johns, who died Nov. 14, 1974; three sons, Wilfred Johns Jr., who died in 1960 and two infant sons; two grandsons, Gregory Hooks and Kirk Hall; two brothers, John and Audley "Zeke" Wolfe; two sisters, Evenlyn Toy and Dorothy Faulx; and one half-brother, William Wolfe. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Snyder-Criss-man Funeral Home, Cowansville. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Thursday at the Brush Valley Brethren Church until funeral services at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Vincent Edwin, officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, East Franklin Township.
