Raymond Guy Wolfe, 95, of Adrian, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, at home. He was born Oct. 7, 1926, to the late McKinley and Stella (Ruffner) Wolfe. Ray lived in the Adrian area for most of his life. He was married to his loving wife, Phyllis (Wagner), for 62 years before her death in 2010. He was a World War II veteran who served in Iwo Jima, and he later worked at Haws Refractories, Snyder Co., and then opened his own business, R.G. Wolfe Excavating, operating heavy equipment until his retirement. Ray enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting and loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Ray's homemade sauerkraut and gardening skills were legendary! He was preceded in death by his three brothers, John Wolfe, Audley "Zeke" Wolfe and Jacob Wolfe; four sisters, Mary Johns, Evelyn Toy, Dorothy Faulx and Mae Armrose; and his son-in-law, Larry Lightbody. He is sadly missed by his four children, Diane (Jim) Bowser, of Freeport, Richard (Patti) Wolfe, of Ford City, Linda Lightbody, of Freeport, and Brian Wolfe, of Freeport. He is survived by one sister, Virginia Roncher, of Adrian. He leaves eight grandchildren, James (Erin) Bowser, of Freeport, Teri (John) Davis, of Kittanning, Kristin (Ricco) Sosa, of Sarver, Christopher (Christine) Wolfe, of Coraopolis, Tim (Leah) Wolfe, of Sparrows Point, Md., Jason (Tammy Hite) Lightbody, of Kittanning, Kelly (Brad) Benasutti, of Palmyra, Pa., and Carter Wolfe, of Freeport. He also leaves 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Ray had a great fondness for his caregivers who took care of him over the past few months, and his family will be forever grateful. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2022, in the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, PA 16201. Additional viewing will be from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at noon Monday, March 21, 2022, in the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew Vatalare officiating.
