Son of Lemuel Ambrose and Emily C. Lawson. Married Celia Elizabeth Smith 10 Dec 1902 in Gloucester Co., Va. After her death, he married Elizabeth Dudley 31 Dec 1906 in Gloucester Co., Va. His last marriage was to Mary "Mamie" Ruth Walker about 1914.

Funeral rites were held Saturday afternoon at Providence Baptist Church for Lemuel B. Ambrose, 59, who died Friday at Memorial Hospital, Richmond, after a short illness. Services were conducted by the Rev. H. L. Corr, assisted by the Rev. M. L. Ragland. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mamie Walker Ambrose; four daughters, Misses Doris, Margie, Edith and Virgie Mae Ambrose; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Morey and Mrs. Anna Robins, all of Gloucester, and four brothers, Franklin and J. W. Ambrose, Wicomico, William Ambrose of Coke, and Martin Ambrose of Richmond. Burial was made in the family lot at Providence, and pallbearers were: P. E. Muse, Charles Williams, Burt Corswell and Hobbs Hogge.
