His father was William Yarwood and his mother, Hannah (Pilbeam) Yarwood. They moved from New York to Indiana when David was young. Leaving there to go to California in 1878. 1880 they were in Pineville, Oregon. In 1880 or 81 they homesteaded in the area of Harrington, WA.

He married Mary L. Porter in 1883 who died a year later.

He married second to Kathryn A. Conklin in 1898. She was from Alpine, New Jersey. Kathryn died in 1914. She was a sister of Charles P. Conklin who is also buried in Hillcrest.

David was instantly killed when the car he was driving crashed into a Great Northern passenger train at Mohler, Lincoln County, WA.

His funeral was held in the Mohler Methodist Church.

He and Kathryn had one child;
Marian Yarwood (Daughter) died at age 2
