STERLING--Jesse Funk, 75, Sterling farmer, died at the family residence late Thursday.

Born at Manti in 1864, a son of Daniel B. and Mary Jane Pectol Funk, he moved with his parents to Funk's Lake, near Sterling, now known as Palesada Park. He assisted his father in preparing the artificial lake and in the planting of the groves of trees which, together with the lake, mark the park as beautiful spot. He, with his father and brother, took from the lake a party of seven boaters, whose boat had capsized in the lake, only one of whom could be saved. Mr. Funk lived at Funk's Lake until his marriage to Tomena Nielson on October 16, 1888, at the Funk home.

Surviving besides his widow are seven daughters, Mrs. Hazel Olsen, Mrs. Arlisha Larsen, Mrs. Caroline Matts, Mrs. Emerett Clemens and Mrs. Elinor Faatz, all of Sterling; Mrs. Eveline Madsen of Bingham and Mrs. Bertha Madsen of Los Angeles, California; two sons, Hillard Funk of Sterling and J. W. Funk of Ephraim; a brother, Frank Funk of Duchesne; a sister, Mrs. Emertett Musig of Ephraim; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday in Sterling LDS Ward Chapel.
