Clarence Hix Blanton, 84, died Monday in Greenwood Leflore Hospital where he had been a patient for thirteen days.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21 from Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant with the Rev. S.L. McCullough of Oxford officiating. Interment was in Mizpah Cemetery.
Mr. Blanton was a native of Ackerman in Choctaw County. He was a retired Railroad conductor, a veteran of World War I, and an Elder in the Durant Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Susie F. Blanton: one son, Clarence H. Blanton, Jr., Mayor of Durant; two daughters, Mrs. Ophia B. Fulton of Greenwood and Mrs. Ruth B. Thornton of Ft. Worth, Texas; one brother, Cooper Blanton of Los Angeles, Cal.; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Hunt, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren.
