His father was Thomas Edward Talkington and his mother, Amanda Belle (Long) Talkington.

He joined the United States Army during World War I and afterward he started farming.

He married Pansy Marie Sawyer on 22 November 1936 at Walla Walla, Walla Walla County, WA. She was born in Strathcona, Alberta, Canada.

They had a daughter, Bonnie Talkington.

Lloyd was being treated for an illness at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN when he passed away.

He was a member of Laurel Lodge No 119 and they conducted his graveside services.

He is buried next to the large and beautiful Talkington monument.
